2009 Shenzhen & Hong Kong Bi-city Biennale (SZHKB)

Date: 5 December 2009 to 23 January 2010
Venue: Shenzhen Civic Square

The Shenzhen & Hong Kong Biennale 2009, entitled “City Mobilization” is the third exposition of architecture and urbanism co-hosted by the two cities. It will be the first time the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade, at the West Kowloon Cultural District development site, is used as the main exhibition venue in Hong Kong. It will feature a range of outdoor and indoor art installations and displays. The exhibition is open to the public.

Following 2007’s SZHKB “Refabricating City” (held in Hong Kong at the Central Police Station Compound), this year’s focus on “City Mobilization” is intended to investigate the possibility of bottom-up mobilization and the organization of social life in the context of China’s contemporary urbanity.

Exhibitors invited to showcase their works will include architects, planners, designers and architectural and urban scholars from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, Japan, USA and Europe.
