The 2nd Tour of Hong Kong -
Shanghai
Jointly organised by the Chinese Cycling Association, the
Hong Kong Cycling Association and the Shanghai Administration
of Sports, the Tour of Hong Kong - Shanghai (the Tour) was
held from 29 July to 4 August 2007. This year, the Tour started
in Hong Kong and finished in Shanghai with three legs staged
in the Mainland at Nanchang, Jiangxi and Zhejiang. Points
gained in the Tour would benefit cyclists' qualifying for
the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. This attracted 16 teams from
11 countries/regions to compete for the trophies. Hong Kong's
top cyclists including WONG Kam-po and LAM Kai-tsun, also
participated in the event. On top of being awarded "M" Mark
status by the Major Sports Events Committee, the Tour was
also one of the celebration programmes of the 10th
Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region.
Hong Kong elite cyclist, LAM Kai-tsun, won the title of Greater
China Rider (Blue Jersey) in this year's Tour.
