"M" Mark Events

YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2006

As a 6-Star World Grand Prix Event with total prize money of US$250,000, the YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2006 attracted the participation of more than 250 world top players from 26 countries and regions. The Championships was organised by the Hong Kong Badminton Association Limited from 28 August 2006 to 2 September 2006 at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, and it was awarded the "M" Mark status and funding support for the second year by the Major Sports Events Committee under the Sports Commission.

The Championships included five events, namely Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The Champions of the events are Lin Dan (Men's Singles), Xie Xing-fang (Women's Singles), Kido Markis / Setiawan Hendra (Men's Doubles), Yang Wei / Zhang Jie-wen (Women's Doubles) and Zheng Bo / Zhao Ting-ting (Mixed Doubles).
