In response to the proposal of the Consultative Committee on the Core Arts and Cultural Facilities of the West Kowloon Cultural District, we have launched a three-month Public Engagement (PE) exercise since 12 September 2007 to explain the recommendations of the Consultative Committee and gauge public views on the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) project. Members of the public were encouraged to express the views through various channels.

2. The Compendium consists of ¡V

(i) written submissions received from organizations and individuals during the PE exercise (with the exception of those submissions whose authors did not give consent for us to publish their views);
(ii) transcripts of three public forums held by Home Affairs Bureau;
(iii) transcripts of two forums held by Home Affairs Bureau for the headmasters and teachers of secondary schools;
(iv)

records of discussion of ¡V

  • 21 sector-specific briefings; and
  • Wan Chai West Area Committee Meeting
(v)

website links to records of relevant deliberations by ¡V

  • Legislative Council (including relevant submissions to Legislative Council);
  • Sham Shui Po District Council and Yau Tsim Mong District Council;
  • Town Planning Board; and
  • Harbour-front Enhancement Committee;
(vi) website links to the on-line discussion board of the WKCD and the Public Affairs Forum

3. A few submissions contain attachments such as DVDs, VCDs and newspaper cuttings. These attachments are not included in the Compendium. Any person interested in reading/viewing the originals of these materials may contact the WKCD Team, Home Affairs Bureau at tel no. 3102 5071 for appointment from 1 February 2008 onwards.
